Stardew Valley is a life simulator full of mysteries, adventures, and of course, romance. With twelve potential love interests, it can be hard to get your bearings. But fear not, my lovely little gamers, I’ve got you covered. This is going to be your Stardew Valley romance Bible, so buckle up and get ready to learn!

Today, we’re doing a full deep dive into Stardew Valley romance, including:

  • The Bachelors + Bachelorettes
  • Dating
  • Proposing
  • Married Life
  • And Breaking-up + Divorce

Without further ado, let’s get dating!

The Bachelors + Bachelorettes

Stardew Valley has twelve total romance options: six boys and six girls. So, to help you make your choice, here’s a little bit about each of them!

Alex

Alex is a gym bro with a heart of gold living with his grandma and grandpa in Pelican Town. He enjoys working out and long walks on the beach (yes, really). His birthday is the 13th of Summer, so be sure to give him one of his favorites like a complete breakfast or a salmon dinner!

Elliott

Elliot is an aspiring writer with a cute little shack on the beach. He loves poetry and romantic boat rides! His birthday is on the 5th of Fall, so make sure you give him some squid ink, lobster, or duck feathers to make him fall for you!

Harvey

Harvey is the local doctor with the dream of becoming a pilot. He loves walking around town and making sure everyone is happy and healthy. His birthday is the 14th of Winter, so be sure to pay him a visit and give him a coffee or some wine on his special day!

Sam

Sam is that skater boy Avril Lavigne was talking about. He’s a bit childish, but he’s a great older brother to Vincent and really knows how to rock out. His birthday is the 17th of Summer, so make sure to buy him a slice of pizza at the saloon!

Sebastian

This little recluse is my personal bias. He’s a bit of a loner (and always cooped up in his room), but once you get him to open up, he’s a very sweet and loving guy. Sebastian likes taking his motorcycle out on the town and enjoys rainy days down by the beach. His birthday is the 10th of Winter, so be sure to get in the mines and grab a frozen tear or some obsidian for this lone wolf.

Shane

Shane is a bit of a mess, but hey, he’s trying! He is a regular at the saloon and enjoys taking care of his special blue chickens. His birthday is the 20th of Spring, so be sure to buy him a cold one or a slice of pizza!

Abigail

Abigail is adventurous at heart though her father Pierre doesn’t exactly support her passion. She enjoys exploring the woods by the Wizard’s Tower and slaying monsters when she gets the chance. Her birthday is on the 13th of Fall, so give her a gorgeous amethyst to make her fall head over heels for you!

Emily

Emily is a bit on the kookier side with her affinity for gemstones and meditation, but she’s a real catch! Emily loves sewing garments and works at the saloon every night for an extra buck. Her birthday is the 27th of Spring, so be sure to bring her some cloth or some gemstones to make her day!

Haley

Haley is an aspiring photographer with a love for sunflowers and cows. She loves to sunbathe and photograph the wildlife around her house! Her birthday is the 14th of Spring, so make sure to harvest a few sunflowers for her!

Leah

Leah is an aspiring artist with an outdoorsy side. She loves foraging for berries and sculpting wood in her studio. Her birthday is on the 23rd of Winter, so be sure to bring her a healthy salad or some goat cheese to brighten her day!

Maru

Maru is a brilliant inventor with a knack for everything tech. She loves creating robots in her room and going on walks around town with Penny. Her birthday is the 10th of Summer, so grab a basket of strawberries and put a smile on her face.

Penny

Penny is the local tutor for Jas and Vincent and certified bookworm. She enjoys reading beneath the shade of a tree and taking Jas and Vincent to the park to play. Her birthday is the 2nd of Fall, so be sure to give her a new book to read or beautiful poppy!

Dating

Now that you’ve chosen your special someone, let’s dive into what dating looks like in Stardew Valley! Image courtesy of the Stardew Valley Wiki.

Dating in Stardew is pretty simple. Once you reach 8 hearts (the max) with your desired bachelor/bachelorette, Pierre will then give you the option to purchase a bouquet from his shop for 200 coins. Once purchased, all you have to do is give it your favorite bachelor or bachelorette and begin dating! Nothing super substantial really occurs whilst dating, but in the relationship tab they will be listed as girlfriend or boyfriend instead of single, and it will open up the last two hearts on the menu, giving you the opportunity to get a smooch!

Proposing

Proposing to your partner will open up lots of new avenues for your game! Image courtesy of the Stardew Valley Wiki.

Proposing to your spouse is a little harder than giving them a bouquet. To propose, you’ll need to obtain a mermaid’s pendant from the Old Mariner. Before you can get it though, you’ll need to have a few more things:

  • The beach extension, costing 300 wood
  • The first home extension (addition of a kitchen)
  • Ten hearts with your partner

Once you have completed these requirements, journey down to the beach extension on a rainy day where you’ll find the old mariner. By interacting with him, he will give you the prompt to purchase a mermaid’s pendant for 5,000 coins! You cannot buy one if you’re already married, and after giving one to your partner, the wedding will occur three days later.

Married Life

Getting married is a special ceremony you’ll cherish for the rest of your play-through! Image courtesy of the Stardew Valley Wiki

A few things change once you tie the knot. To start, the day after the wedding, your new spouse will move into the farmhouse and add a new room next to your bedroom. They will also add an outside area to the farm. For example, Sebastian will park his motorcycle behind the house and Hayley will add a couple palm trees. Your spouse will occasionally help water crops and feed your animals, but other than that, they’ll just stay on the farm all day.

Breaking-Up + Divorce

Sometimes we make decisions we need to go back on! Image courtesy of The Gamer

To break up with your partner, head over to Pierre’s and purchase another bouquet. Instead of giving it to your partner, grab a piece of coal and chuck it in one of your furnaces. This will produce a wilted bouquet and by giving this to your partner, you will break up. This will drop your relationship down to 5 hearts, so be sure you want to split!

Divorce is pretty pricey. And it takes a toll on your heart too. To divorce your spouse, enter the Mayor’s house during operating hours and approach the purple book. Interacting with it will prompt you with the option to divorce your spouse for 50,000 coins. Once you do, you have until 10pm to take back your decision. The next morning, your spouse and their addition to your home will be gone.

Your relationship will drop to 0 hearts and your ex will avoid contact with you for the next few days. Your ex also will not attend your next wedding and will act rudely at festivals. To remedy this, you can spend 30,000 coins at the witches hut to erase their memory and romance them again if you so choose.

There you have it!

That was our full and complete romance guide to Stardew Valley! I hope this helps you find the perfect partner for your farm and that you live happily ever after! Happy gaming!
