ESG Quick Review:

Attention!

Alright listen up, soldiers! It’s war out there. The enemy is getting more and more ground every second you sit. Every breath they take is another American dream crushed. Yes, war is hard. Yes, you miss those you hold dear. Do not let any of that go to your head. We are fighting for truth. We are fighting for honor. We are fighting for the justice of our homeland. By fighting for our values, you will live forever!

The field of war is a fierce one. The terrors of war are far more digestible in the field of video games. What is deeply traumatizing and sickening in the real world makes for a blast of adrenaline when used in a war movie, novel, or multiplayer gaming experience. No franchise is more known for this than Call of Duty. Under the banner of Activision and with the help of other studios like Toys for Bob and Sledgehammer Games, Call of Duty Warfare is a game that touts competitive gameplay, responsive controls, and well designed maps to run around in.

Requirements of War:

Listen here, and listen good! Before you enlist yourself into the field of online warfare, there is a checklist of system requirements for your enrollment in the Call of Duty forces.

  • Windows 10 64 Bit (With latest update) or Windows 11 64 (With latest update)
  • Intel Core i3-6100/Core i5 2500k/Core i5 6600/Core i7-4770/AMD Ryzen 3 1200/AMD Ryzen 5 1400
  • 8 GB Ram (12 GB preferred)
  • NVIDIA GeForce GTX 960 or 1060/AMD Radeon RX 470 or 580
  • Direct X 12
  • Broadband Internet Connection (Make sure it is stable so that you don’t find yourself getting booted from a match mid game.)
  • 125 GB of available storage

The game is best played with folks online, instead of simply playing with CPUs. Human interaction is what makes multiplayer games so special – our inherently social nature drives us to meet people and make friends. Having the right controller and control settings can make the difference between being the coolest soldier among the troops, and the biggest fool in the warzone.

Keyboard Vs. Controller

Last but certainly not least, we make it to the main event: The controller best suited for the job. Let us go over the pros and cons of using a keyboard vs. a controller. Like any first person shooter, one of the most important aspects to account for is the control scheme. The classic keyboard has always been a staple of PC gaming. WASD to move can be as natural as using a joystick. The clacking and clicking of keys as bullets fly across the battlefield can be an exhilarating feeling. The raw sensations of speeding through the field and taking out enemy troops one by one fills you with a satisfaction that you scarcely can replicate.

Meanwhile, we also have the classic dual handed controller. Whether it’s plugged in or wireless, one cannot deny the simple childlike joy that comes from playing a video game with a controller like this. Sorry PlayStation fans, but the only controller compatible with this game is the XBox controller. All those memories of playing Call Of Duty on XBox will surely come flooding back when you hook it up to your PC.

Controller Settings

Playing with your XBox controller, there are also a few controller settings to go over. Recommendations from Dextero

  • Use a tactical stick layout preset (fitting for a tactical setting. Pun very intended.)
  • Horizontal and vertical stick sensitivity should be at 1.8
  • Turn off simplified controls
  • Turn off low motor strain
  • Turn off bumper ping
  • Flip L1/R1 with L2/R2 or LB/RB with LT/RT
  • Default stick layout preset
  • Turn off controller vibration
  • Turn off trigger effect

Using all these settings, you can now immerse yourself in the competitive atmosphere of the war grounds. These controller settings can mean the difference between a win and a loss.

Setting the Mood

Last but not least, you will also want to set the mood for the best possible experience. Get yourself something to eat! Maybe some homemade grilled chicken and vegetables, some pizza, maybe even some leftovers with extra seasonings. Don’t forget to get yourself a nice glass of water. Maybe some music if you find yourself in the mood. You could play some techno music in your headphones, or maybe some classical music if that’s more of your speed. Of course, we also should not discount the gamers who simply choose to play the soundtrack of the iconic Doom series.

Sit down in your best gaming chair, and hop onto a game with some of your Steam Friends and Family. All of you will likely either take the game as seriously as your local esports team, or you can all just sit and laugh as you throw grenades at the floor and send yourselves flying about twenty feet straight into the air just for the heck of it.

At Ease, Troops

It can be chaos, it can be insanity, and in all honesty it can be downright terrifying. That being said, this war of attrition is one that is just as reliant on the equipment you use as it is on your skills and the prowess of your fellow gamer. The field of warfare can be extremely tumultuous, but having your friends there can make it all a whole lot easier. With these settings in place, you can now go on and get the party started.

Do I make myself clear? Are we going to sit and cower in the trenches, or charge through like human bullet trains? Now get over to your pc and have some fun! That is an order!

Sir! Yes sir!
